Deodorent

A couple of weeks ago, I ran out of deodorent. It was the kind of running out where the flat stick actually fell out of the tube when I tried to put it on. What's worse? I didn't get more for TWO DAYS. Why not? I didn't want to pack the kids in the car...again...and go to the drugstore (unpacking and repacking) - it was way too much effort. My mother was horrified.

This would have never happened to the Katy of 5 years ago. She was super organized, a full-blooded type-A personality. She would have had more in the closet or noticed it getting so low that she made a calculated stop on the way home from somewhere.

My brief stint with stinkyness really brought to mind all the ways my life is so different than it was five years ago. Five years ago, it only took me thirty seconds to get in the car and go somewhere. I ate food when it was hot.  The pony tail wasn't my everyday "do." I didn't consider yoga pants appropriate attire EVERYWHERE.

And today? I can vaccum and mop while carrying a six-month old. I can eat lunch without ever sitting down. I can manage on broken sleep and lots of caffeine. I can fit a week's worth of groceries wedged in the cart with a squirmy toddler and infant carseat.

Loving my life these days though. I'm tired at the end of the day, and I sometimes long for the days when I could shower without a baby screaming in the exersaucer. BUT, I wouldn't go back to the "old Katy" for the world.

I'll run out of deodorent any day.
