This girl.

Cupping my face with both of her little hands, she drops her chin and narrows her eyes. She's done this before, so I prepare myself for her defiance and smile.

"No night-night." She says sweetly. Too sweetly.

She goes "night-night," of course, but only after twenty minutes of the back-and-forth - "It's time to go night-night" as she pinpoints my eyes and nose and ears. "Evie, it's bed-time" as she pushes my hair out of her way and scrunches up her nose disgusted. (I mean, goodness, why does my ponytail have the nerve to drape over my shoulder?) "Lay your head down, baby" as she rears back and sings her song loudly. "Evie, settle down" as she yells for Dada and for Jack-Jack.

She may have most of her dad's personality, but he didn't give her the sassy. I have no idea where that came from.

When I look into the faces of my sweet children, and I see (or hear) my own reflection there. And more of it every day.

Parenting is so humbling... :)
