Two Months...and the Terrible Twos!

Evie is  two months old this week, which seems impossible, but is true. At her doctor checkup today, we learned that she's in the 69th percentile for weight at 11lb, 9oz, and she's in the 60th percentile for height at 22.5 inches. She's got a small head, like Jackson does, but the doctor points out that it has no correlation to limited brain power after talking with Jackson today. Ha! Evie is a picture of perfection to all of us. She smiles, she coos, she wants to laugh. She's strong, she's patient, and she's a good eater. She burps like a Butler, which makes me happy. She sleeps with me still, so we'll have to "sleep training" soon. I'm not super worried about it, though, and I'm enjoying it for now because I know I'll look back when she won't let me snuggle her, and I'll have these sweet memories.

Jackson is the dictionary definition of terrible twos right now. His precocious verbal skills are beginning to get him in trouble, for sure. He's a smarty-pants, which he gets from me. He has something to say about EVERYTHING and does so with authority he only thinks he has.  He gets angry, like I do. He's also smart enough to bend rules just enough to not warrant punishment, but about as close as one can possibly do so. He gets that tap-dancing ability from Andrew. We are constantly carrying around the wooden spoon, redirecting with time-out, and apologizing to our parents for what we put them through. :) We've started "preschool" at home, and we're doing well. He loves arts and crafts and reading, but couldn't care less about coloring or sitting still. He's so busy, and it's a full time job keeping up with him, especially if we are anywhere but home. He might be scared of snakes and bears and wolves in the dark, but he's fearless during the day. Too fearless.

Speaking of a full time job, people ask me if I miss being at work. While I do miss interacting with my former colleagues, many of whom are good friends, I adore being home. I appreciate not being stressed about making plans to go back to work, find childcare arrangements, etc. I miss the adult interaction and the paycheck, for sure, but I wouldn't trade that money for the day-long conversations I get to have with  Jackson or the time I get to stare at Evie while she sleeps.

We head out to Missouri tomorrow night so that Andrew's family can meet Evie. His mom spent 10 days with us when Evie was born, but "Uncle Beef" (Justin) is the only other Purvis to have met Evie thus far. I'm terrified of such a long trip with J and E, so say some prayers for our sanity!
